Position Summary

The Shipping Clerk is responsible for configuration of freight rates and schedules equipment as required. Performs a variety of clerical functions to support invoicing and production recording. Works with Customer Care to maintain total customer satisfaction in movement and receipt of product.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Calculates volume requirements for LTL, truckload and international shipments.
  • Daily scheduling of order requirements needed to complete shipping schedule.
  • Prepare bills of lading, domestic/international.  Provide instructions for delivery requirements; edit picklist and truckload sheets for completion.  Provide all necessary documentation to Accounting for invoicing on a daily basis.
  • Communicates with Customer Care to determine and insure shipment arrival date upon request.
  • Maintain direct communication with Customer Care, Sales Representatives, Purchasing, customers and carriers on procedures used for determination of freight claims, also the creation of such.
  • Coordinates daily reporting of finished goods receipts and transactions of product, provided through a networking of PC emulation of SAP.  Edits audit trail to provide timely and accurate update on inventory postings.  Performs corrections as required.
  • Maintains knowledge of product allocation procedures along with the process used to determine customer orders available for shipment.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Required Education

High school diploma or an equivalent amount of education, training or experience will be considered

Required Skills & Experience

  • Must be able to efficiently operate a PC as well as other general office equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Prior experience with SAP WMS or an ERP system
  • Strong Communication (written and oral) and Analytical skills

Preferred Skills, Experience & Education

  • College degree a plus
  • Prefer previous experience in a shipping/warehouse environment. 

  • Previous experience working in a Shipping, Scheduling or Logistics position is a plus.
