Position Summary

The Distribution Team Lead is primarily responsible for leading, assigning and participating in all distribution functions, which include setting up orders for shipment, completing shipping records for incoming and outgoing shipments. Other responsibilities include giving direction/assistance to other material handlers as assigned.


Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all set up, assignment and completion of orders for shipments
  • Inspect outgoing items to be delivered, note damage, deficiencies, shortages and non-compliance with order specifications
  • Use a forklift to move materials through the distribution process
  • Check shipping documents to ensure correct quantities are recorded

  • Interact with Production Leads and Distribution Coordinators
  • Assist in cycle count program
  • Clean and maintain work area

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Monitor attendance
  • Ensure Shippers/Material Handlers adhere to productivity, quality control and safety standards.
  • Assist in the development and growth of the associates
  • Assist with Associate performance reviews
  • Conduct routine departmental business and distribution safety

Required Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Required Skills & Experience

  • Ability to safely lift, push or pull up to 70 lbs
  • company certification in the operation of a fork lift or dolly
  • Must be able to work overtime as required
  • Ability to read: Material Safety Data Sheets, work orders, work instructions, manuals, policies and procedures, shipping documents, etc.

Preferred Skills, Experience & Education

  • Two year college degree is preferred
  • Previous management/supervisory experience
  • Experience in Lead department
