Position Summary

The Systems Administrator will ensure Joerns Healthcare network security by maintaining network, e-mail and internet for all sites.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for field and office personnel
  • Must be able to guide users to resolution remotely or via phone
  • Significant server administration/security regulatory monitoring/network maintenance involved
  • Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.  Technology Department works as a team 24x7
  • General LAN troubleshooting
  • Understanding of storage including RAID, SAN and NAS
  • Theoretical knowledge of network hardware types (experience with configuration preferred)
  • Understanding and deployment of Microsoft AD concepts such as GPO, registry, OU structures, objects and attributes
  • Install and test network hardware, software, and upgrades
  • Evaluate hardware and software before purchase or deployment—provide constructive feedback by comparing and contrasting multiple products
  • Maintain accurate inventory of hardware, software, and computer materials and supplies
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on hardware
  • Assist with standardizing system configurations and documentation
  • Maintain and support a security system for all systems; ensure network security by maintaining network, Internet, e-mail, understanding the differences between file and share security, group membership versus explicit permissions, familiarity with Office 365 environment / licensing and similar technologies
  • Assist management of VoIP environment, phone installation and setup
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and flexibility to be responsive during those times 24/7
  • Occasionally required to work longer than 8 hour days or on weekends and nights when required during projects or system outages
  • Effectively communicates relevant IT-related information to senior staff

Required Education

Associates degree or higher 

Required Skills & Experience

  • Work with teams and individuals both inside of IT and the user community at large
  • Ability to empathize with users and peers in order to provide comfort while resolving problems
  • Respond to problems based on criticality of issues
  • Problem solving demonstrated by troubleshooting hardware, software and operating system environments
  • Ability to know when to escalate/ask for help from senior staff
  • Customer service oriented
  • Experience of working in an IT support environment

Preferred Skills, Experience & Education

  • Certification such as MCP, MCSE, MCSA, CCNA
